Designed for early intervention in CKD stage 3 and 4

  • Structural modifications:
    • Removal of the 19th carbon group from the A-ring
    • Additional methyl group in the side chain
    • Additional carbon double bond in the side chain
  • Minimal calcemic and phosphatemic effects on the intestines 1
  • Vitamin D and paricalcitol have been shown to reduce PTH levels by inhibiting PTH synthesis and secretion

Zemplar Capsules are biologically active upon administration

No activation required by the liver or kidneys

  • Zemplar is an active drug, requiring no dosing adjustments for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment

Prodrugs require activation by other organs, such as the liver, before they can become biologically active 2

Early (stage 3 and 4) intervention with Zemplar Capsules inhibits PTH synthesis and secretion.
